De Heus Vietnam - Nurturing the Mission to Deliver a Clean Food Chain Globally

About De Heus

De Heus is a leading manufacturer of animal feed, serving a diverse clientele that ranges from individuals and organizations to large and small feed distributors across multiple countries. Backed by a team of highly experienced nutrition experts, De Heus empowers farmers with valuable knowledge to ensure optimal livestock health and maximize farm efficiency.

Through these integrated value chains, De Heus takes great pride in its contribution to fostering a prosperous agricultural sector worldwide.

Challenges

Prior to adopting cloud platforms, De Heus relied entirely on traditional physical infrastructure. However, this system proved suboptimal, presenting the team with numerous challenges regarding management, resource provisioning, and system scalability. De Heus constantly sought ways to ensure smoother and more flexible system operations to accommodate sudden spikes in user traffic while meeting four crucial criteria:

  • System scalability
  • Robust backup capabilities
  • Absolute security
  • Cost-effectiveness within the allocated budget

Solutions

After exploring cloud computing and experiencing limited success with several other providers, De Heus decided to partner with Cloudino to migrate its IT system to the AWS cloud. This migration leveraged various AWS services, including storage, computing, data management, cost optimization, security, identity, and compliance.

Deeply understanding the partner’s needs, Cloudino successfully restructured De Heus’s system within just two weeks. By decoupling the web, app, and database components and implementing Auto-scaling, the system was fully equipped to support De Heus’s business expansion. We utilized AWS cloud architectures, specifically Amazon Elastic Container Service (Amazon ECS) and Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS), for seamless orchestration.

Furthermore, the system facilitates the reassignment of employee access rights, implementing specialized management and security protocols that adhere to the highest compliance controls, such as the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS). Consequently, data is securely backed up, consistently highly available, and fully recoverable in the event of unexpected incidents.

Results

Following the cloud migration, De Heus’s infrastructure on AWS was re-architected using best-in-class solutions. It has achieved high stability and is fully equipped to handle a massive influx of customers from its expanding network. Moreover, robust auto-scaling capabilities ensure the system is perfectly positioned to seamlessly integrate with other applications within the De Heus ecosystem in the future.
